Competitor Intelligence

Discover, monitor and compare competing channels using the official YouTube Data API, then surface the videos that substantially outperform their own channel’s baseline.

Discovery and watchlists

  • Find channels by niche or keyword search, or add them by channel URL, @handle, channel ID or any of their video URLs.
  • Organize competitors into multiple watchlists per channel workspace, each with its own scan interval and outlier thresholds.
  • Public data only: channel statistics, video titles, descriptions, publication dates, durations, views, likes and comments where public, and thumbnails.

Outlier detection engine

  • Outlier Multiplier = Video Views ÷ Channel Median Views per Video, computed from mature videos only (default: older than 7 days, at least 5 videos).
  • Default thresholds of 2× (promising), 5× (strong) and 10× (exceptional) are heuristics you can adjust per watchlist.
  • Age-adjusted multipliers, views per day, sample sizes and data freshness are shown next to every result. Zero medians and small samples are never classified.

CTR Proxy Analysis

  • A clearly labeled directional index combining relative performance, reach beyond the subscriber base, title clarity and thumbnail legibility.
  • It never claims to reveal a competitor’s actual click-through rate.

Thumbnail intelligence

  • Real pixel analysis of public thumbnails: dominant colors, contrast, colorfulness, background complexity, approximate text density, subject placement and brightness.
  • Patterns are used to brief original thumbnail concepts — never to copy designs.

Reports and monitoring

  • Outlier leaderboard, channel comparisons, topic and format performance, content gaps, upload frequency over 7/30/90/180 days, historical observations and alerts.
  • Scheduled scans within plan and API-quota limits, with last/next scan, quota usage, errors and monitoring costs.
  • CSV export on every plan, PDF on Creator Pro and Studio, JSON on Studio.

Historical data before a channel is added is not available from the API; dated observations begin when you start monitoring. A labeled demonstration dataset is available for evaluation without an API key.
